PakBus

Privacy policy

This policy covers the PakBus Android app, the pakbus.app website and PakBus in AI assistants. PakBus is run by Obaid Ur Rehman. PakBus has no accounts and no advertising, and it does not sell information.

On your device

Your city, saved places, saved routes and recent searches are stored only on your phone or in your browser. You can clear recent searches in the app under More. Removing the app, or clearing your browser data, deletes the rest.

What our server receives

To show routes and plan journeys, your device sends our server what you ask for: the city, the places or stations you choose, the words you search for and the departure time.

Like every website, our server also receives your IP address and the name and version of your app or browser. The server does not save your IP address.

Usage statistics

We record how PakBus is used so we can improve it, for example which city was opened, what was searched for, which stations were chosen and how many results were found. Search words are cut to 120 characters.

Each record has a visitor code for that day. It is made from your IP address and app or browser name, mixed with a secret that changes every day. Each secret is deleted after 2 days, so visits on different days cannot be linked.

These records are deleted after 90 days. After that only daily totals remain, with no visitor codes.

Location

Location is optional. PakBus uses it to show stations near you and to open the app in your city. It is used only while you use PakBus, never in the background.

Your position is sent to our server to find nearby stations and is not stored. When no station is found near you, we store the position rounded to about 1 kilometre, to learn where bus information is missing.

Problem reports

A report stores the type of problem, your text and the city, route or stop it is about. We do not ask for your name or contact details. Please do not include personal information.

A person checks each report. Reports are kept so we can correct our data.

Before a report is sent, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that it comes from a person. For this check Cloudflare receives your IP address and details about your device.

Notifications

You can turn on notifications for routes you choose. Our server then stores the notification address your browser gives and those routes. It does not store your name, phone number or location.

When we publish a service change for one of your routes, we send an empty message to your browser’s push service, such as Google’s for Chrome. Your browser then fetches the change from pakbus.app and shows it.

Stop notifications on the same page and the address is deleted. If you block notifications for pakbus.app in your browser instead, it is deleted when the next change is sent.

AI assistants

If you ask an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to use PakBus, the assistant’s service sends our server the same details as the app: the city, the places or words you search for and the departure time. We receive the address of that service, not yours, and record the search in the usage statistics described above.

When the assistant shows a journey map, your device loads the map from OpenFreeMap, as it does on our website. Your conversation is handled by the assistant’s provider under its own privacy policy.

Other services

We do not share your information with anyone else.

Security

All connections to PakBus are encrypted. Only the PakBus team can access the data on our server.

Children

PakBus is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information about them.
